FAQs
When should you plant dahlia tubers in the UK?
Dahlia tubers are typically planted outdoors after the last frost (usually from late April to May) in most parts of the UK. However, many gardeners like to start their dahlias earlier by potting their tubers indoors in March or April; giving them a head start before moving them outside once the weather warms up.
Are dahlias easy to grow for beginners?
Yes! Dahlias are one of the most rewarding flowers to grow, even if you're new to gardening. With sunshine, regular watering and a little care, dahlias produce beautiful blooms all summer long. If you're new to growing dahlia tubers, we include our Introduction to Growing Dahlias video course with every Dahlia Beach order, so you can feel confident from the very start.
What do dahlia tubers look like when they arrive?
Dahlia tubers can sometimes surprise first-time growers — they often look like small clusters of brown roots rather than something obviously “plant-like”. Don’t worry, this is completely normal! Each tuber contains the energy needed to grow a beautiful plant — and once planted they will quickly start producing shoots.
